Valentine’s Day at Canary Wharf: from Starlight Cinema to a Vintage Tea Dance

This Valentine’s Day, Canary Wharf offers something unique and memorable for those looking to really impress their date.

On Wednesday 13 February, the popular Starlight Cinema returns to Canary Wharf’s spectacular East Wintergarden with a free screening of The Breakfast Club. A cult 1985 classic directed by John Hughes, The Breakfast Club follows five teenagers, each a member of a different high school clique; a brainbox, a beauty, a jock, a rebel and a recluse. The group are thrown together in a Saturday detention. Cinema goers can re-live younger years and enjoy a giggle over a glass of wine, watching what is widely considered to be the greatest high school film of all time.

On Thursday 14 February, Canary Wharf’s Valentine’s Tea Dance, part of the exceptional Vintage Dance Club series, offers the opportunity for people to literally sweep their loved one off their feet. The East Wintergarden will come alive with music from the Berkeley Square Society Band. The glamorous hosts from Ragroof Theatre will go through a dazzling array of dances, including the waltz, tango and cha cha, bedecked in gorgeous gowns and mysterious masks. Experienced instructors will be on-hand to run through the steps in a drop-in workshop from 6:00pm, before everyone takes to the floor for an evening of gliding, strutting and twirling. Partners are welcome but definitely not essential.

Tickets are £12 for a fabulous vintage Valentine’s evening which includes a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival. Vintage tea, cakes and dainty finger sandwiches are available from the bar.
