Fast-rising, singer-song writing star Rumer is confirmed for the Canary Wharf Arts & Events’ After Hours with…’ series this February.
Wednesday 16 February 2011
East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf
This London show will be Rumer’s first London performance in advance of her UK Spring tour scheduled for March and April, and the show provides a rare chance to catch her live in the intimate setting of the unique East Wintergarden before her career goes stratospheric.
Canary Wharf’s Arts & Events Manager, Sian Astrop says: “Rumer is blessed with a pure and magical voice and we are proud to have such a unique talent perform for us at Canary Wharf.”
Rumer is often compared to Karen Carpenter and Carole King and counts amongst her many admirers such luminaries as Carly Simon and the revered songwriter Burt Bacharach, who flew her to LA just to hear her sing!
Following the release of her haunting single, Slow late last summer, Rumer’s debut album, Seasons of My Soul was released by Atlantic in the autumn. She received extensive airplay on BBC Radio 2 and last November she took part in a unique performance to launch the BBC Electric Proms where she joined Sir Elton John and Leon Russell on stage. After performing last September on Later with Jools Holland, she was invited back to perform on his New Year’s Eve Hootenanny live show that also starred such greats as Kylie and Ruby Turner. Her highlight last year was the special live performance with Jamie Cullum on the Royal Variety Performance.
The ‘After Hours with…’ series is a perennial favourite on the Canary Wharf Arts & Events calendar, with concerts by top-quality established and new artists in the spectacular East Wintergarden.
Canary Wharf continues to grow its reputation as a leisure destination, attracting visitors to its world-class arts, events, shops, bars and restaurants.
