Canary Wharf’s Comedy Club 4 Kids
Comedy Club 4 Kids arrives at Canary Wharf for the first time! The event on the 17th February is for children over the age of seven and their families, featuring some of the biggest and best comedy names on the UK circuit doing what they do best – minus the rude bits! The Guardian has hailed it: ‘A highlight for children… giving them a taste of some of the biggest names in comedy with the fun, rowdy feel of a real comedy club.’
The novel event idea came from stand-up comedian James Campbell who has been making children and adults laugh in equal measure throughout his career. After its launch at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2006, the club has been going from strength to strength and featured at some of the country’s top venues, including the Udderbelly in London, the Komedia in Brighton, and G Live in Guildford.
The bar with special fruit cocktails for the kids will be open throughout the evening to ensure everyone stays refreshed and well catered for during the show.
Kids will also be given the unique chance to take to the stage themselves as part of a comedic workshop. Since 2006, Comedy Club 4 Kids have been running comedy workshops for children, aged 7 to 18, in schools, theatres and at festivals. The teachers are CRB checked comics and stage professionals, who teach the kids how to write and perform comedy, finding the comical in their own experiences and creating their own stand-up performances and sketches.
Participants learn to stand tall in the armour of self-confidence; to be comfortable both on the stage and in themselves. The 90 minute workshop aims to give all the participators something to be proud of and show them how to shine and is the perfect half term activity.
