Canary Wharf to switch off lights in support of Earth Hour

Canary Wharf Group plc will be joining millions worldwide in marking Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lights within its offices and elsewhere on the Canary Wharf estate between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on 29th March 2014.

Several businesses at Canary Wharf will also participate in this event to address climate change and energy conservation including KPMG, Clifford Chance, Morgan Stanley and Moody’s.

Canary Wharf Group’s engagement during Earth Hour is one of its many global commitments to corporate responsibility and environmental protection. Last month, Canary Wharf Group achieved the Carbon Trust Waste Standard, making it one of the first ten organisations and first real estate company in the world to be recognised since the certification was launched in November 2013.

Canary Wharf Group has also taken a more rigorous approach to measuring sustainability performance in recent years. According the Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines, the Group achieved a GRI level B+ standard, aligned with the EPRA Best Practices Recommendations on Sustainability Reporting.
