Canary Wharf Contractors Fund Backs #loveLives with £20,000 donation

The Canary Wharf Contractors Fund has committed £20,000 to the #loveLIVES campaign. The campaign, a partnership between Construction News, Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and KPMG has been set up to save social enterprise Building Lives and the almost 200 young people it supports whose apprenticeships in the building industry are at threat due to funding shortfall.

The donation by Canary Wharf Contractors to #loveLIVES, brings the total amount raised for the campaign to more than £71,000 of a total 50-day target of £400,000 to secure the future of the young peoples’ apprenticeships.

Cormac MacCrann, Executive Director of Canary Wharf Contractors pledged the donation at at event held at Canary Wharf last night to promote health and safety on all its construction sites.

MacCrann said: “We particularly focus on helping organisations which are involved with young people so engaging with Building Lives matches our objectives perfectly. Giving young people from socially deprived background a chance to acquire a trade and more importantly self-respect is a huge benefit to society and to the industry – all the more so when it is at a time of acute skills shortages.

“Canary Wharf Contractors Fund is proud to be able to help Building Lives and we urge our colleagues in the industry to help as best they can. If everyone gives a little it will help 200 lives a lot.”
