Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A. (“BBVA”) expands its London Operations and takes up new premises at Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf Group plc announces that BBVA is expanding its London Corporate & Investment Banking operations and taking up new premises in Canary Wharf.
BBVA has taken a lease of Level 44 in One Canada Square and will be occupying approximately 29,000 sq ft for a term of 15 years. The lease has a break clause effective at the end of the fifth year in respect of up to 7,500 sq ft and a break clause after 10 years on the whole floor.
BBVA will be occupying their new headquarters in Spring 2012. The arrival of BBVA will bring around 150 employees to Canary Wharf which, coupled with the arrival of the JP Morgan and Shell employees, is set to increase the population at Canary Wharf to over 105,000 in 2012.
As recently announced, the European Medicines Agency has agreed to pre-let 250,000 sq ft in 25 Churchill Place at a rent of £46.50 psf on a 25 year lease. In One Canada Square, Metlife have also recently agreed to take level 50 on a 10 year lease at a rent of £43.50 psf.
