Allies and Morrison Appointed to Shape Wood Wharf Masterplan

Architecture and urban planning practice Allies and Morrison has been appointed by Canary Wharf Group plc to help create the masterplan for the proposed development of Wood Wharf, a new 20 acre site immediately east of Canary Wharf in central London.

The practice will lead on the design of the masterplan for the mixed-use site, with Terry Farrell and Partners consulting on the scheme as it moves towards a planning application later this year. They will complete an impressive list of architects working on Wood Wharf’s design, including Herzog & de Meuron and Stanton Williams working on individual residential buildings. As well as the outline masterplan, Allies and Morrison are also developing designs for two new office buildings at Wood Wharf.

Robert Maguire, Project Director for Wood Wharf from Canary Wharf Group plc said: “The design team assembled for Wood Wharf includes some of the world’s best architectural talent. Terry Farrell and Partners have done an excellent job progressing the masterplan to this point. We look forward to working with them and Allies and Morrison to complete the masterplan design. This design work will be done in close consultation with the local community and London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and taking into account the future needs of growing business sectors such as technology and media.”
