The 6,200 ft2 space will feature two outdoor terraces, a 100-cover restaurant, three bars and a ‘grab and go’ food option, alongside its theatrical cocktails and all-day dining menu
The Alchemist, the premium cocktail bar and restaurant concept, is bringing its renowned theatrical cocktails to the bustle of the business district, with a new London flagship opening in Canary Wharf on Friday 29th November.
The new 6,200 ft2 space will offer respite to busy city workers and visitors with two spacious outdoor terraces and three bars. Overlooking Canary Wharf, guests will enjoy London’s skyline whilst listening to The Alchemist’s resident DJs.
With a bespoke design created by Macaulay Sinclair, the Canary Wharf site will feature crisp geometric lines with precious metal detailing, set against dark wood panelling and bronzed mirrored walls. Featuring its eclectic all-day dining menu, The Alchemist Canary Wharf will also offer a unique ‘grab and go’ bagel menu, with freshly baked bagels supplied by East London bakery Shalom Hot Bagels, created specifically to tailor to those looking for a quick bite in the area.
The latest launch follows a hugely successful two-year growth period for The Alchemist with a national growth rate of 180%. The bar group already has a presence in capital with three London sites, Bevis Marks at Liverpool Street, St Martin’s Lane and most recently Old Street. Canary Wharf will become The Alchemist’s latest and biggest addition.
At the beginning of 2020, The Alchemist will be expanding its London offering further, with its first opening south of the Thames – Embassy Gardens in Nine Elms. The site which sits between Vauxhall and Battersea will offer an ideal spot for drinks in London’s newest district.
The Alchemist launched its first site in Manchester in 2010, and the forthcoming expansion will take the group to 19 sites nationwide.
Simon Potts, Managing Director of The Alchemist says, “Canary Wharf is the perfect location for our London flagship site, we’ll be offering busy workers respite from the city, with our spacious terraces, all-day dining and expertly crafted cocktails. The new site will have all the quality and theatre found at The Alchemist, but with its own twist tailored to Canary Wharf”.
Camille Waxer, Managing Director – Retail and Chief Adminstrative Officer, Canary Wharf Group, says, “We are very excited about welcoming The Alchemist to Canary Wharf. They bring an abundance of theatre to their bars and restaurants, with striking interiors, delicious food and a unique and unconventional approach to mixology. They will be located in one of our busiest hubs at Canary Wharf with great views of the Estate from their two outdoor terraces. It will be a great opening not to be missed.”
