This Easter, Canary Wharf invites families to discover a basketful of free activities and art installations throughout April. From interactive egg hunts to minigolf, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during the school holidays.
East London’s only free-to-play minigolf makes its eagerly anticipated return this spring, opening daily from Friday 4 April on Montgomery Square. The vibrant 9-hole course, designed by artists Craig Redman and Karl Maier, offers the perfect family challenge with friendly event stewards providing clubs and balls for spontaneous tournaments. For those seeking even more active fun, the popular neighbouring ping pong tables remain available for quick-fire matches between shopping and dining.
In recognition of Easter as a Christian celebration, we will be installing a Tree of Life in Jubilee Place mall. In Christianity, the Tree of Life symbolises God’s goodness and connects to Easter’s story of death and resurrection. Crafted from recycled cardboard, this installation encourages togetherness and reflection. Visitors are invited to become part of the artwork by adding personalised leaves with heartfelt wishes from Monday 14 April until Monday 28 April.
Canary Wharf joins in the fun of The Big Egg Hunt 2025, a free art trail organised by conservation charity Elephant Family and Clarence Court Eggs. Until Sunday 27 April, families can track down 18 beautifully designed eggs scattered throughout Canary Wharf’s parks and waterside boardwalks. Visitors can download the free Big Egg Hunt app to “collect” the eggs they find and reveal prizes along the way.
Making its debut on Tuesday 8 April, Canary Wharf’s newest public art installation, the striking Whale on the Wharf (Skyscraper), emerges from the dock on Water Street. Be among the first to discover this monumental addition to the neighbourhood’s free-to-visit outdoor public art collection, providing the perfect photo opportunity for families and art-lovers alike. Made from 5 tonnes of plastic pulled from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, Whale on the Wharf also serves as a reminder of where our plastic waste ends up.
Literature lovers need to know all about Canary Wharf’s Short Story Stations, which print free story extracts in Crossrail Place Roof Garden and Jubilee Place mall. Until Thursday 1 May, the stations will be featuring a special Earth & Environment Collection curated by Penguin Books ready to print at the touch of a button – perfect for a quiet moment of inspiration during the April holidays.
On top of the activities and events, roast and brunch options are available to tuck into at Canary Wharf’s floating restaurant Hawksmoor, home of London’s best roast Blacklock, waterside restaurant Roe and vegan favourite mallow. Sweet-toothed visitors won’t want to miss the giant chocolate bunny at newly opened Läderach, luxury chocolate at Charbonnel et Walker or Hotel Chocolat’s Extra-Thick Egg. Other activities include touring the waters on a GoBoat or family fun at London’s biggest indoor adventure park, Flip Out.
