Raise Your ‘Art’ Rate for Sport Relief at Canary Wharf, in Association with Fitbit – 17.03.16

Until Sunday 20th March, Canary Wharf Group will be encouraging visitors to step up to the plate for Sport Relief, in association with Fitbit, to fundraise for those living unimaginably tough lives across the world. With the use of a specially commissioned art map, designed by illustrator Jo Bird, visitors to the Estate will be able to pass by many pieces of public art, whilst clocking up 5,000 steps along the way.

With over 1,000 events taking place up and down the country for Sport Relief, Canary Wharf has partnered with Fitbit, the world leader in tracking everyday health and fitness. Canary Wharf Group will be running a competition* on social media, asking participants to tweet a ‘selfie’ with one of the 12 pieces of art included on the map to @yourcanarywharf with the hashtag #SportReliefCW16, for the chance to win a state of the art Fitbit. As an official partner, Fitbit will also be donating a percentage of sales from selected products towards Sport Relief.

Planning to make a day of it? These are only 12 of the 65+ works of art to be discovered on the Estate. And with over 300 shops, restaurants and bars, there’s plenty of choice on how to make the most of your day at Canary Wharf. Here are a few suggestions:

  • From Bob Allen’s ‘It Takes Two’, to Nigel Ross’ ‘Cross Way’, why not make a detour to pick up a coffee to go from Notes at Crossrail Place, and then enjoy a stroll through the Crossrail Place Roof Garden?
  • Fancy a quick break? Make a pit stop at Jubilee Place on your way from Igor Mitoraj’s ‘Testa Addormentata’ to Konstantin Grcic’s ‘Six Public Clocks’ to enjoy a bite to eat at the rustic Le Pain Quotidien.
  • With Monica Vinader, Bailey Nelson and Maje also in Jubilee Place, there’s always time for a spot of shopping too!
  • For something a little more celebratory towards the end of your route, head to Boisdale in Cabot Place on your way from Jon Buck’s ‘Returning to Embrace’ and Michael Lyons’ ‘Unity of Opposites: Vortex’.
