Feel the beat at Canary Wharf’s free Jazz Festival
London’s largest free jazz festival returns to Canary Wharf this August for an upbeat weekend of live music in Canada Square Park, one of Canary Wharf’s many open spaces. With a line-up set to rival New Orleans in the 1920s, Canary Wharf plays host to the smooth sounds of the UK’s most remarkable jazz artists.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the distinctive sound of the Rob Barron Quintet, who will open the show, and the neo-soul vibe of 20-year-old Poppy Ajudha,
Jazz up your weekend
Saturday’s headline act Riot Jazz Brass Band will perform a unique twisted mix of funk, soul, hip-hop and aggressive jazz. The nine-piece brass band made up of trumpets, trombones, a sousaphone, drums and an MC will play their way through funked-up favourites, re-interpreted dubstep and drum‘n’bass that never fail to fill the dancefloor.
Closing the show on Sunday will be Melt Yourself Down, a London-based band who draw on the influences of North African musical styles, punk jazz and funk.
Canary Wharf’s Jazz Festival is the crescendo of Canary Wharf’s Arts + Events programme which sees over 200 unmissable events from theatre performances, to live music, sporting events, outdoor theatre and exhibitions. Visitors can enjoy over 300 shops, shops, bars and restaurants, making it the perfect destination for a great day out.
