Festibowl Rolls into Canary Wharf this August – 02.08.19

Rolling into Montgomery Square this August, the quintessentially British sport of lawn bowls is getting a 21st Century makeover and you’re invited to be a part of it.  With grass beneath your feet, lawn bowl in one hand, an ice cold drink in the other and music all around, you’ll be transported to a picturesque modern village green in the heart of Canary Wharf.

Dispel any thoughts of a sedate game of bowls with players dressed in head-to-toe white and quiet applause.  Hosted by MC Mr Benjamin Bowls Esq, Festibowl is eccentric, social and a quicker pace, guaranteed to let your competitive side come out to play.

Of course no modern village green is complete without some scrumptious summer food and drink.  Head to the onsite bar 640 East for an ice-cold beverage, then explore the sizzling street food options including Korean BBQ, Jerk Chicken and Moroccan delights adorning the square.  Matches are free to spectate so feel free to kick back, relax and soak up the atmosphere.

Packages are available to suit any size group, with individual lane bookings for up to four people and corporate packages for your whole office.  For lunchtime bowlers, free walk in sessions are available Monday-Friday, 12-1pm.  Do you have the bowls to be a part of it?

About Festibowl

Festibowl was born from, founder, William Goy’s, love for the laid back vibes of lawn bowling. Since seeing the Aussies turn lawn bowls into the perfect excuse to be mucking about outside, playing games and drinking, he wanted to bring it to London. Since then he has made it his mission to get as many people as possible enjoying the rock n’ bowl lifestyle in the iconic idyllic spaces around London. To extend the reach beyond those in the know these past few years, William brought in Freddie Fison, of Brixton Beach fame, and together they are reimagining Lawn Bowls to make it accessible to everyone and to ensure people have some madcap fun.

William Goy on Festibowl, “I have always loved how sports gets people outdoors and brings people together, but not everyone is drawn to it. So when I saw how the Ozzies were reinventing lawn bowls, I just felt inspired to let it loose with the people of London. Anyone can play it, with or without a drink in hand, and it invariably ends up being an absolute blast! I love to see people come in a bit unsure of things and then by the end of the game, there are people throwing themselves on the floor and cheering wildly! Also, the incredible locations we are in this year and the banging street food sellers means I’m really excited to see Festibowl in action!”
