- Five days of family-friendly Diwali celebrations from 19 to 23 October featuring craft workshops, floating lanterns, South Asian food and live music
Celebrating the spirit of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light, Canary Wharf Group (CWG) will host five days of activities from Sunday 19 to Thursday 23 October.
Diwali, the biggest and brightest of the Hindu celebrations, marks the triumph of light over dark and good over evil, celebrated across the globe.
On Sunday 19 and Monday 20 October, visitors can take part in free, drop-in, Diwali-themed craft workshops in Jubilee Place mall (12–5pm), including paper lantern decoration, mindfulness mandala colouring, water lantern wishes and Indian block printing.
On Tuesday 21 October, between 5-8pm, Dishoom will be serving complimentary cups of warm spiced chai tea from to enjoy whilst watching the lanterns created in the workshops being released into the tranquil ponds of Jubilee Park, a glowing symbol of light overcoming darkness.
The celebrations continue on Wednesday 22 October (12–2.30pm) with a special Diwali edition of The Lunch Market in Jubilee Park. South Asian cuisine from much-loved traders including Andhra Ruchuluuk, Degchi, Dumpling Pimps, Eat Lah and Karapincha will be on offerto enjoy alongside live performances from Baja Beats at 12pm, 1pm, and again at 5pm for those celebrating after work.
On Thursday 23 October, the celebrations conclude with a craft display in Jubilee Place mall, showcasing the creations made during the workshops throughout the week.
Adding to the festivities, Dishoom in Wood Wharf has collaborated with their London neighbours The Tamil Prince on a limited-edition Malai Kofta, inspired by shared childhood memories of Diwali in India – a rich and joyful dish celebrating unity and flavour.
Those looking to continue the celebrations can also head to Kricket in Canary Wharf, where bold, modern Indian flavours and a vibrant atmosphere make it the perfect spot to mark the Festival of Light with friends and family.
