Canary Wharf has announced the opening of four new destination restaurants covering over 44,800 sq ft of retail space at the thriving mixed-use district. Each of the new additions offers a dining experience like no other, enhancing the hospitality offering at London’s iconic destination while bringing employment to the local area.
Following the recent opening of an 8,616 ft Amazon Fresh store in Wood Wharf, the new neighbourhood at Canary Wharf, the restaurant openings at Wood Wharf this autumn are within a short stroll from the residential developments which will provide up to 3,600 new homes, 2m sq ft of office space, 350,000 sq. ft of retail space and over nine acres of public spaces, squares, and parks upon completion.
Set on an eco-friendly floating pavilion in the docks of Wood Wharf, designed by Glenn Howells Architects, Hawksmoor will be opening their biggest and first London restaurant in four years. The new Hawskmoor venue will serve their iconic ‘dictionary-thick’ steaks from traditionally reared cattle simply cooked over real charcoal alongside old school cocktails in a 150-cover restaurant, a 120-cover bar and outdoor space for eating and drinking.
Spread over 13,250 sq ft at the second floating pavilion at Wood Wharf, The London Project will be offering a unique dining experience consisting of a restaurant, bar and social space featuring in-house gin distillery this autumn. Inspired by the vibrant London culture, The London Project will offer a curated Thamesian menu consisting of tapas and modern dishes created by a team of world-class chefs while the bar will offer worldwide drinks suited for all tastes.
Mercato Metropolitano will be unveiling their latest venue MMy Wood Wharf this autumn. The community market will include artisanal kitchens, a deli and a bakery in the market space on the first floor while a Mercato Metropolitano’s live jazz music venue will be located on the lower level.
Bringing authentic flavours of Italy to Canary Wharf, Emilia’s Crafted Pasta will welcome up to 100 diners at their new flagship restaurant on the ground floor of 12 George Street, the build-to-rent building from Vertus, overlooking the water with alfresco dining options. Complementing Emilia’s existing menu and signature pasta will be a selection of new dishes including homemade parmesan crisps and cocktails based on locally sourced fresh fruits mixed with Italian spirits.
Brian De’ath, Managing Director of Residential Sales at Canary Wharf Group, commented: “The latest food and beverage openings at Canary Wharf demonstrate our commitment to shaping the future of the Canary Wharf estate making it a vibrant and modern destination for residents and visitors.
“It was extremely important for us to introduce a diverse mix of hospitality operators which share similar values to us and the lifestyle on offer so our residents can enjoy the perfect mix of work/life balance while supporting hospitality post-pandemic.’’
The creation of a new neighbourhood in Canary Wharf is a unique opportunity to live in one of the most desirable, safe and well-connected private Estates in Europe. Wood Wharf provides the very best of urban living, with open green spaces, vibrant new shops, bars and restaurants all bordered by water.
