Canary Wharf Group’s Wildlife Photography Competition 2019 Opens This Week – 02.04.19

From Thursday 4th April, Canary Wharf Group invites you to take part in its Wildlife Photography Competition, encouraging photographers to celebrate the diversity of flora and fauna on the Estate.

Returning for its fifth year, the competition is open to all budding photographers to compete for an overall prize of £1,000 in Canary Wharf Gift Cards.

There are both adult and junior competitions with the adult competition comprising four categories; ‘Architecture’, ‘Street Photography’, ‘Wildlife and Water’ and ‘Up Close and Personal with Nature’.  There are also two junior categories split by age group; one for 11 years and under and one for 12 – 17 years.

Our judges will review all entries and select a shortlist of 30 entries; 20 from the adult competition and 10 from the junior competition.

Judging will consider a number of factors, including composition, originality and public appeal. The overall competition winner will be one which the judges believe is the most compelling representation of wildlife on the Estate.

All shortlisted entries will be displayed in an exhibition at the striking Adams Plaza Bridge at Canary Wharf this autumn.  The prestigious Director’s Choice award will also be awarded this year; a prize of a £250 Canary Wharf Gift Card will be given to an entrant whose picture is chosen by the Canary Wharf Group Directors.

To enter, applicants need to submit their images by 5pm on Monday 27th September.  Images can be submitted via the Canary Wharf website or via Instagram.  Instagram entrants are required to post their photographs tagging, and following @canarywharflondon and using the hashtag #CWwildlife19 and are also required to caption with the image title and category entered.

Last year’s award for the ‘Wildlife and Water’ category and overall winner was presented to Victoria Jones with her mesmerizing photo, ‘Hitching a Lift’, captured between North Dock and Blackwall Basin.
