Awards for Best Exterior Design and Best Luxury Development cap impressive year for the landmark residential building
One Park Drive, Canary Wharf Group’s flagship residential building, has won two Gold awards at this year’s WhatHouse? Awards.
Dubbed the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, the WhatHouse? Awards showcase and celebrate the brightest developments, developers, and partners in the housing sector, honouring those who build Britain’s best homes.
One Park Drive is the centrepiece of Canary Wharf’s new neighbourhood, Wood Wharf. Set over 58 floors and designed by world-renowned architectural practice Herzog & de Meuron, it is a remarkable residential building that re-defines the notion of city living, bringing a new option of contemporary waterside living to the capital.
The striking building offers four distinct accommodation types – the lower Loft, middle Cluster, upper Bay apartments, and Panoramic penthouses. Reflecting on One Park Drive’s iconic cylindrical profile, the WhatHouse? judges described it as “one of the most distinctive residential buildings on the London skyline.”
The second Gold Award – Best Luxury Development – is widely considered one of the ceremony’s most coveted awards. The judges noted that apartments “all benefit from free-flowing spaces, which are divided with sliding walls and pivoted screens and high-quality finishes including marble and mother of pearl to the bathrooms”, whilst also reserving praise for One Park Drive’s extensive residents’ facilities, which include a library, cinema room and lounge on the ground floor, whilst the first floor houses an exclusive residents-only health club.
Brian De’ath, Managing Director of Residential Sales at Canary Wharf Group said: “We are delighted to win Gold awards for Best Exterior Design and Best Luxury Development for One Park Drive. All of the teams involved in the creation of this building from pre-planning to delivery have worked tirelessly to create a residential building that pushes the boundaries of what London’s luxury homes stand for. The result means One Park Drive has quickly become not just an iconic building within Canary Wharf, but an iconic building for London.”
Wood Wharf is a new 23-acre neighbourhood within the Canary Wharf estate, which will comprise up to 3,600 new homes, 350,000 sq. ft. of shops and restaurants, 2 million sq. ft. of office space, a new NHS doctor’s surgery and two-form primary school. Amongst this will sit lively high streets, green public spaces and walkways. Residents will benefit from a year-round programme of arts, music, sport and events, many of which are free.
