Canary Wharf Group (CWG) is delighted to announce that it has earned the prestigious WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management for its managed buildings for the stringent measures that CWG has put in place addressing issues related to both the current pandemic and broader health concerns.
The rating covers the office space of One Canada Square, 25/30 Churchill Place, 40 Bank Street, 1-5 Bank Street and 7 Westferry Circus.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence based, third party verified rating for all new and existing buildings, focusing on operations policies, maintenance procedures, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans to address a post Covid-19 environment now and in the future. The rating is issued to the Canary Wharf Group through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
This award demonstrates that CWG’s Covid-19 response meets third party approval against an internationally recognised standard, capturing risk assessments, policies and procedures related to cleaning, sanitising, hygiene, business continuity, emergency response, Maintenance and Engineering, mental wellbeing and HR related policies.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating provides a centralized source and governing body to validate efforts made by owners and operators. It leverages insights drawn from the IWBI Task Force on COVID-19, in addition to guidance on the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections developed by the World Health Organization (WHO). The rating also builds on the core principles already established by IWBI’s WELL Building Standard, the premier framework for advancing health in buildings and spaces of all kinds.
Phil Tweddle, Managing Director, Operations Canary Wharf Group said: “Providing an office space that instils confidence and trust from our tenants is a top priority and I’m delighted that Canary Wharf Group has joined the WELL community of organisations pushing the boundaries of what health and safety looks like in a post-Covid environment.
“The WELL Health-Safety Rating seal is a recognisable mark of commitment to the health and safety for anyone who walks through the doors of Canary Wharf and we are proud to have achieved this very important safety rating.”
Ann Marie Aguilar, Senior Vice President, EMEA, International WELL Building Institute said: “Canary Wharf Group’s leading efforts to earn the WELL Health-Safety Rating highlight the critical role that buildings, and those that own and operate them, can play in supporting people’s health, safety and well-being. At IWBI, we are proud to celebrate this achievement with Canary Wharf Group as they lead the way toward a healthy, resilient recovery and help drive transformative action in the UK.”
The accreditation demonstrates Canary Wharf Group’s ongoing commitment to implementing evidence-based strategies to create a healthy and safe environment, protecting staff, customers and clients.
