The BioIndustry Association (BIA) today announces that Canary Wharf Group (CWG) and Kadans Science Partner (Kadans) have joined as annual supporters. This is a move that speaks to the strength of BIA and the vitality of the UK life sciences ecosystem.
CWG is the developer of the largest urban regeneration project in Europe – a thriving mixed-use community. The Wharf is home to a growing life sciences and healthcare community of over 40 companies and in partnership with Kadans Science Partner is developing One North Quay – a flagship life sciences development in London. The facility will provide purpose-built laboratories, workspace, manufacturing provision and community facilities for companies tackling some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.
Kadans Science Partner, a European-wide organisation, has built a network across the continent of researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators, with the hope of bringing people together to overcome global challenges. Kadans is dedicated to providing the best spaces for life sciences innovation to thrive.
CWG and Kadans Science Partner’s support of the BIA is an acknowledgement of the UK’s central place – and UK biotech’s unique position – in the heart of international scientific innovation.
Steve Bates OBE, Chief Executive of the BIA, said:
“The UK life sciences sector represents the past and future of British ingenuity. We are the home of penicillin and the launchpad of today’s cutting-edge breakthroughs and transformative technologies that impact the world.
“The annual backing from Canary Wharf Group and Kadans Science Partner is a strong endorsement of this ecosystem, and I warmly welcome their support, both for the BIA as a trade body and for the sector as a whole.”
Mairi Dillon, Associate Director – Science Ecosystem at CWG, added:
“Our relationship with the BIA over the past two years has been one of close collaboration and we are delighted to be further strengthening this partnership. We have a thriving Life Sciences and Healthcare community at Canary Wharf including leading organisations like Genomics England, the MHRA, hVIVO and Aviadobio.
“Across our wider neighbourhood and through our partnership with Kadans Science Partner at One North Quay we continue to make significant investments to expand the ecosystem further in our ambition to become an internationally recognised life sciences hub. In this journey, partnership, advocacy, and connectivity are essential and we look forward to supporting key BIA initiatives such as improving access to capital, catalysing the potential of techbio and streamlining regulatory pathways’
Qaisar Rafiq, European Business Development Director at Kadans Science Partner said:
“We are proud to strengthen our relationship with BIA and support the UK’s thriving life sciences sector. The BIA is at the forefront of championing innovation, shaping policy and fostering collaboration across the biotech and life sciences sector. As strong believers in the power of innovation and collaboration, we are proud to stand alongside the BIA in advancing the UK’s position as a global leader in bioscience. We look forward to contributing to the vibrant community it represents and helping to accelerate the next generation of scientific breakthroughs across the UK.”
