Best of British: Boutique Luxury Interior Design Studio Sources Local for Show Apartment at Thirty Casson Square – 25.03.21

An exclusive show apartment showcasing the best of British design, has been launched at Southbank Place’s striking Thirty Casson Square. The fully dressed show apartment has been designed by boutique luxury interior design studio, Portia Fox, set up by former creative designers at Candy & Candy who have also previously worked for David Linley and Katharine Pooley Ltd. The show apartment offers prospective purchasers the opportunity to view one of the best addresses on the banks of the Thames, surrounded by bespoke British made pieces. Prices for the final apartments left to purchase at Thirty Casson Square start from £1.15m, whilst the show apartment is available for £7.75m.

The three-bedroom sub-penthouse show apartment is located on the 27th floor and features some of the best views of the iconic landmarks of London, including the River Thames, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and the City of London. The distinctive London vistas pair perfectly with the British made and designed show apartment.

The show apartment at Thirty Casson Square is truly bespoke, with much of the furniture designed in-house at Portia Fox; it delivers carefully crafted pieces with clever contemporary twists. A common feature in British design, Portia Fox has drawn on the heritage of the area, having been inspired by the former coal and dye works, timber yards and potteries based at Southbank Place. The bespoke pieces, artwork, and colour palette which have been chosen and designed for the show apartment reflect this.

Picking up on the former dye works, the colour palette in the show apartment includes bold and vibrant blues, pinks, greens, oranges, and golds. The former coal works are represented by the use of grain blackened timber, hammered and blackened bronze finishes throughout.

The show apartment includes a number of unique statement pieces, which create an element of fun throughout the interiors. This includes a bespoke cabinet veneered in dyed blue birds-eye maple in the snug area that transforms into a bar, perfect for a warming winter drink, as well as a stunning straw marquetry dining table, featuring bold geometric coloured shapes, inspired by the brutalist architecture of the South Bank and the view of the London Eye. In addition, a sculptural marble bust can be found in the master bathroom and the lounge area boasts a colourful contemporary, organic chandelier.

The furniture designed by Portia Fox for the Thirty Casson Square show apartment has all been handmade by British makers, illustrating the quality of craftsmanship available from across the UK in locations such as Dorset, Whitby, and Newcastle, to name a few. The exquisite dining table has been crafted by a specialist maker in south west London, the bespoke leather upholstery on the striking kitchen stools has been printed in north London and the bespoke bedside tables in the master bedroom have been handmade by a cabinet maker based in Newcastle.

In addition to the furniture, much of the artwork has been sourced from British based artists. The hallway features contemporary artwork by Cornwall based artist, Diane Whalley, the second bedroom boasts a geometric collage created by Cambridgeshire artist, Nicky Knowles, and the master bedroom features poignant paintings by London based Spencer Fung.

Brian De’ath, Director of Residential Sales at Southbank Place, comments: “The launch of the sub-penthouse show apartment at Thirty Casson Square, is a fantastic step for the development. For the first time we can show people around a completed home in this building which brings together all of the best elements of Southbank Place; fantastic design, a perfect location and incredible views”.

“Portia Fox has exclusively designed the show apartment at Thirty Casson Square so that it is completely unique. The bespoke interiors are second-to-none and really reflect the quality of the remaining apartments available.”

Portia Fox, Founder of Portia Fox comments: “Through our interior design in the show apartment at Thirty Casson Square, we really wanted to reflect the soul of the area. With its music halls and theatres, South Bank is a place full of culture, so we felt that this offered an opportunity to be experimental with our design decisions; we have created pieces that inspire conversation.

The Brutalist architecture of the area inspired a sculptural and bold approach to some of the pieces we designed in the apartment, with a focus on playful geometric shapes and textures. This can really be seen in the bespoke dining table, where the shapes of the surrounding landmarks are evident.”
