10 Park Drive Sky Terrace Designs Revealed

For those that have a renewed appreciation for green spaces and are searching for a sanctuary in the city, they need look no further than Canary Wharf’s first residential building 10 Park Drive, which has just revealed its 13th floor Sky Terrace. Designed by award-winning, Townshend Landscape Architects, the Sky Terrace offers a variety of flexible spaces that provides the ideal place to unwind and relax. Designed by world-renowned architects Stanton Williams, 10 Park Drive opened its doors to residents in June this year, who benefit from exclusive access to the building’s spectacular Sky Terrace on the 13th floor. The fully-landscaped space provides a secluded oasis in the heart of Canary Wharf, with far-reaching views of the London skyline, from the Docklands in the east to the City and beyond to the west.

Across the Sky Terrace, the inside meets the outside through the use of formal and informal spaces or ‘room’. Each ‘room’ is distinguished by the formality of the flooring. The flooring is a mix of warm stone paving, great for soaking up the sun and relaxed wooden decking, that creates meandering trails through overhanging planted greenery. The overhanging planting gives the effect that the rambling trails are gently hovering above the bed of manicured planting.

Helping to further create pockets of space across the Sky Terrace, the planting offers a contrasting mix of evergreen hedges, climbers, lush grasses and flowering trees which will provide greenery in both winter and summer. The evergreen hedges and climbers frame the individual spaces, whilst the other layered planting gradually increases in height to act as further dividers. The layered planting ranges from shorter, beautifully scented Lilly of the Valley, to medium perennials such as soft Tufted Hair Grass and taller perennials including intricate Silver Sage.

Throughout the summer months, the planting across the Sky Terrace will be awash of colours and textures, including soft creams, delicate whites, bold and blushing pinks, and demure and statement purples. For those looking for somewhere to quieten their minds or perhaps sit in the winter sun and get lost in a book, these calming colours make the Sky Terrace the perfect place to go to relax.

Set within each area there is a variety of fixed and moveable furniture that gives the Sky Terrace a number of different uses. Moveable armchairs, sofas and coffee tables offers useable space for residents to work, read or just get their daily dose of vitamin D. Whereas more permanent benches, tables and chairs, as well as a covered pergola, offers residents the ability to hold meetings, dinner parties or share a drink whilst watching the sun go down across The City. Residents at the landmark new development on Wood Wharf will have access to this secluded terrace with bookable facilities and free use of shared spaces, forming the ultimate residents’ club in the summer months.
