The Felix Project set to conquer new heights with festive challenge 23.08.23

The Felix Project is set to conquer new heights as the food charity launches its first ever challenge event.

The first Santa Stair Climb 2023, in partnership with Canary Wharf Group, will take place on Sunday 19th November 2023 at One Canada Square in Canary Wharf and will help deliver over three quarter of a million meals to hungry Londoners.

The charity is looking for people to step up and register to complete 1,031 steps of the iconic Canary Wharf skyscraper. The challenge will be to climb to the 48th floor where finishers will be able to take in spectacular views of London.

The Felix Project anticipates the event will enable it to deliver over 870,000 meals to people across the capital who are struggling to afford to put food on the table.

Charlotte Hill OBE, CEO at The Felix Project said: “We know this winter is set to be a very worrying time for so many, but particularly for those on low incomes. Last year high energy and food prices left many facing the impossible choice between heating and eating, we saw unprecedented levels of need and we expect this year to be just as bad. It is vital The Felix Project is there to give as much food as it can to the incredible organisations who are feeding people facing food insecurity.”

This unique and fun event is one of the many ways Canary Wharf Group is working in partnership with The Felix Project. As well as providing the stairs, Canary Wharf Group have arranged activities and exclusive offers available to participants and their families, helping kick off their festive celebrations.

Shobi Khan, CEO of Canary Wharf Group said: “We are delighted to be hosting The Felix Project’s first ever challenge event at One Canada Square this November.  Our partnership with The Felix Project launched in May with the creation of the Canary Wharf Green Scheme – which is already saving hundreds of kilos of food from going to waste and distributing it straight to those who need it through community organisations in Tower Hamlets.  Through supporting the Santa Stair Climb, our goal is to donate 870,000 meals to those who need it most in the capital. So I encourage anyone who enjoys a challenge to register your place today and help us raise funds for this important cause.”

The Felix Project helps feed hundreds of thousands of people every day by rescuing good quality surplus food and distributing it to over 1,000 community groups and schools in every London borough who help those experiencing food insecurity.

Registrations for the stair climb will go live on Tuesday 22 August and to celebrate, One Canada Squares iconic pyramid will glow green for the evening. Keeping to the colour theme, participants will also be given a green Santa hat and outfit for the challenge.
