Canary Wharf Group has announced that it is launching its latest residential project, One Park Drive, a striking building by award-winning Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, following on from the success of 10 Park Drive. The project is a significant step in the next phase of Canary Wharf’s development and is likely to be one of the most exciting residential buildings to launch in London this year.
The 58-storey building, with its distinctive circular design, will feature 483 apartments ranging from studios to four-bedroom penthouse apartments and will be built in the area’s new district in a prominent waterfront location, on the edge of South Dock. Set to be one of the city’s most sought after addresses, the apartments are due to be launched to the market later this month.
Herzog & de Meuron are the architects for the development, and endeavor to start each new project without predetermined ideas, even with a conscious naivety coupled with curiosity, in order to produce unexpected and original results. In every project they try to observe, respond, and nurture the history and spirit of each place. Herzog & de Meuron have designed a wide range of projects from the small scale of a private home to the large scale of urban design. The practice is behind some of the world’s most famous contemporary buildings, including the recently completed Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Tate Modern in London and the ‘Birds Nest’ Olympic Stadium in Beijing.
