Job Summary:

Canary Wharf Group is looking for a motivated and tenacious self-starter to join their Group Treasury function in this broad ranged Treasury Manager role. Main Responsibilities

Cash Forecasting & Reporting

  • Preparation of cash forecasts, for decisions regarding cash management and longer-term liquidity planning, as well as monitoring forecasting models to track short-term project funding requirements
  • Take a business partnering approach, ensuring constant communication with key business teams to understand upcoming short term cash requirements and longer-term liquidity
  • Assisting the Treasury Accountant and FP&AS team in preparation of the monthly and quarterly cashflow updates
  • Work with the Group Treasurer to implement KRIs and KPIs for the function, measurement tools, reporting and action plans
  • Input into quarterly shareholder reporting
  • Able to sense check interest and SWAP calculations and challenge banks where differences are identified
  • Grow relationships with key external stakeholders including Chatham Financial

Cash Management and Treasury Operations

  • Monitoring bank balances and updating Bank Transactions Report, detailing and analysing type and reason for bank entries
  • Implement best in class Treasury practices to move Group more towards a more progressive In-House Bank structure
  • Design and implement appropriate liquidity investment strategy and procedures, placing surplus cash on overnight and longer-term deposits and negotiating with bank to gain maximum returns.
  • Planning and execution of all payments for external borrowings/investments
  • Oversee Treasury compliance work within the business including AML, FATCA & CRS reporting, KYC, and annual audit requests
  • Management of two junior staff, responsible for:
    • Ensuring the team manages intercompany funding for over 200 entities and over 500 bank accounts
    • Responsible for opening and closing bank accounts, as well as mandate amendments
    • Monitoring and reporting on bank charges
    • Daily bank reconciliation of bank balances to Accounting system information, updating Accounting system records and running associated reporting

Debt & Capital Markets

  • Assist Director of Group Treasury with required Corporate Finance work, including presentations for refinancing maturing debt, modelling Liability Management Exercises, as well as possible new financing opportunities
  • Assisting in the preparation of letters for quarterly interest payments, including construction loan IPDs
  • Assisting in the preparation of construction loans drawdowns in conjunction with forecast project cash requirements
  • Produce quarterly compliance reporting for secured finance portfolio, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders for input data and coordinating audit trail sign offs by Heads of Department

Systems & Controls

  • Responsible (with team) for all Treasury and banking related systems including banking platforms
  • Assisting with implementation of new accounting system (Yardi), consideration of potential for Treasury Management System (and future implementation.)
  • Strengthen the control environment and drive change through continuous process improvements and re-engineering cash management processes
  • Implementing new best practice processes following the launch of the Group’s new residential rental business (Vertus), helping the Vertus management team during the let-up phase
  • Dealing with trouble-shooting requests linked online banking platforms and any future treasury systems to ensure a smooth payments process; responsible for ensuring all payments are processed successfully and following up with communications when there are errors, resolving issue and completing ‘post-mortem’ on how to avoid payment error in the future

What We Require of You

  • Ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree with strong academic results, and a professional Treasury qualification (AMCT)
  • Will have at least 5 years+ experience within a Finance or Corporate Treasury environment
  • Excellent Excel skills (ideally with experience with Macros/ VBA)
  • Experience with Treasury Management Systems as well as ERPs (Property Management/Yardi desirable)
  • Strong team-player with excellent interpersonal, leadership and influencing skills and ability to work well with internal stakeholders
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure to multiple deadlines
  • Clear oral and written communication skills; ability to work with internal / external partners across different functions and communicate with all levels of management
  • Creative – proven ability to think strategically, and to focus on goals and continuous process improvements, whilst motivating other team-members to ensure delivery
