To carry out cleaning and tidying duties to ensure that the cleanliness and appearance of the Estate is to the highest standard.

Main Responsibilities

  • To empty waste receptacles, collect same and dispose of into rubbish skip or, after training, designated compacting equipment.
  • Following training undertake mechanical scrubbing or sweeping using plant machinery on roads, arcades and the other pedestrian areas. Where external areas are not suitable for cleaning by the large “ride on” plant use either pedestrian machinery, electrical cleaning equipment or physical means clean to complete tasks.
  • Undertake external/internal window cleaning.
  • Undertake internal cleaning of offices, public toilets and circulation areas.
  • Following training and certification operate the following specialist equipment for both cleaning and assistance of other Canary Wharf departments:
    • Boats
    • JCB Tractor
    • Harben hover jetting, pressure jetting and hot jetting.
    • Forklift trucks.
    • Cherry pickers.
    • Ride on Scrubber Dryers
    • JCB Bobcat
  • In severe winter conditions undertake de-icing/snow removal operations at all times as per staffing rota.
  • Keep drainage grills free from debris and rubbish and unblock drains as necessary.
  • To undertake as a matter of priority the removal and cleaning up of any spillage such as oil, excess water etc., to restrict the risk to the other users of the Estate.
  • To report any Estate defects like streetlights, broken paving stones, non-functioning toilets etc.
  • Undertake minor repairs to cleaning equipment to keep operational.
  • To provide light removal and transportation service around Canary Wharf for both Infrastructure and other departments on Canary Wharf.
  • To operate the cleaning function in a flexible manner ensuring minimal disruption to other Estate users.
  • To work as part of the cleaning team to ensure full coverage of cleaning services throughout the common areas of the buildings and Estate.
  • Safety and COSHH Regulations. Ensure that in fulfilling duties, safety precautions/ instructions are adhered to.  Familiarity with emergency and lift safety procedures of the Estate and to participate in emergency drills, real emergency drills and real emergency situations.
  • Maintain good working relationships with tenants’ representatives and users of the Estate.
  • To carry out similar duties as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.

What We Require of You

  • The duties will include some form of heavy lifting and strenuous physical activity.  Therefore, the incumbent must have the ability to undertake such duties.
  • The incumbent will be highly visible and must be considered as a representative of Canary Wharf Management Limited and therefore should act accordingly in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential with trailer license.
  • Forklift experience would be an advantage.
  • Applicants must pass certification in order to operate mechanical plant.
