Job Summary:

Canary Wharf Group (CWG) are seeking a Project Manager to join the team as the Group embarks on its next major phase of development.

The Group has a current pipeline of over £5bn of commercial, residential, retail and infrastructure development, and is actively seeking medium-large scale mixed-use opportunities across London.

The role will report to the Development Manager and be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and coordination of the delivery of the project.

The role offers excellent scope for progression either within the Project Management discipline, or as a route into Development Management or other Client-side roles dependent on the individuals’ skillset and ambitions, and business need.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the DM and Client team in the day-to-day management of the project through defined gateways from project start-up to handover and operation.
  • Assist and provide support across all key activities from development appraisal, design development and planning, to third-party agreements, procurement and delivery and project close-out.
  • Establish and maintain project governance and controls, including project execution plans, project directory, org charts, risk management plans and registers, change registers, etc. to ensure rigorous control of cost, quality, scope, and programme.
  • Monitor and measure project progress, produce regular reports, and work schedules and identify corrective actions within the project team to ensure effective and efficient project delivery.
  • Manage the flow of project information between the team and establish and organise project meeting schedules, identifying attendees, responsibility for chairing, agendas and minute taking, and chasing down actions.
  • Manage and administer the change control protocol and present proposed changes and all supportive information to the DM for approval.
  • Prepare and issue instructions to the professional team and Construction Manager on behalf of the DM/Client.
  • Work closely alongside the in-house Construction Management team responsible for the delivery of the projects / builds.
  • Manage the process for the identification, selection, and appointment of consultants, ensuring contracted services are commissioned and recommended on the basis of robust, accurate and coordinated documentation.
  • Act as contract administrator for the professional team, holding designers and other professional advisors to account in the delivery of their contracted services.
  • Evaluate applications for payment and recommend for approval/rejection.
  • Facilitate lessons learned workshops to identify best practice and ensure findings and recommendations are disseminated, actioned, and incorporated into best practice governance/ways of working.
  • Ensure handover and defects management process is in place and assimilate contributions to project close out report.
  • Take initiative and seek out opportunities to create more efficient and effective ways of working and contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What We Require of You

  • Project Management delivery experience within complex, mixed-use real estate developments.
  • Ideally hold professional qualification (MRICS / MAPM) at graduate/post-graduate level.
  • Consulting experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, with strong report design and presentation skills.
  • High level of organisation and administrative skills and ability to energise and drive delivery within project teams.
  • Be able to plan and manage meetings effectively and chase down actions.
  • Numerate, logical and detail oriented, with ability to analyse complex issues and to summarise with accuracy speed and with clear recommendations.
  • Positive attitude, with ability to form effective working relationships with all project stakeholders.
