Vertus Events Manager

Job Summary: To oversee and organise events and activities across the Vertus portfolio. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organised and bring fresh ideas to give our residents the best events experience. The Events Manager will be responsible for budgets, quality control, operational aspects and post-event evaluation reporting.

The Vertus team will manage all aspects of the Build to Rent assets on the Estate, as well as the initial management during the final construction programme and handover period.

The team will be based on site and will be comprised of a core group of experienced specialists and individual building management members, dedicated to the lettings and management of both the building and the apartments. This team will have a comprehensive track record of delivering excellent service and will be dedicated to meeting the needs of their customers and residents.

The Vertus team will be dedicated to providing a superlative service to residents, 24 hours a day and 365 days per year.

Main Responsibilities


  • To develop a diverse events programme employing research, presentations and strategic planning
  • Plan events from start to finish in conjunction with the Building Manager’s to suit the residents’ needs
  • To be responsible for the sound financial management of the events budget
  • To develop and manage the events department’s training, staff skillset and performance progress and to realise opportunities to up skill and expand staff’s responsibilities
  • To manage the department’s customer service development in line with the company’s relevant strategy;
  • To source and manage the procurement of external events operators and production freelance staff as and when required;
  • To be aware, maintain and implement the laws of the licences that Vertus hold (Premises licence, Food Act 1990, Health and Hygiene at Work etc.) and ensure that all outside vendors adhere to the licensing laws
  • Ensure standards of maintenance and cleanliness are maintained in Club Vertus and co-ordination with all necessary departments. To initiate works and maintain the upkeep of the Club Vertus equipment
  • To coordinate events for residents, achieving client expectations and being a brand ambassador for Vertus
  • To be aware of other events and promotions that occur on Canary Wharf
    Continually assessing, evolving and improving the residents’ events experience
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time the Senior Management Team

Environmental Responsibilities
All Staff are required to follow the Canary Wharf Group plc (CWG) Environmental Policies for minimisation of waste and effective energy management as defined in the CWG Environmental Manual and associated documents.

Quality Management Responsibilities
All staff are required to comply with CWG Quality Management System requirements detailed within the Company Quality Manual & Policies, and to ensure that all Procedure; Plans and Forms within InfoBase are effectively implemented to meet the set ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard.

Person Specification


  • Experience within event management at a senior or management level;
  • Experience of working within the arts, events, charity and/or entertainment sector;
  • Staff management or supervisory experience;
  • Proven ability of effectively managing multiple tasks / events and meeting deadlines;
  • Excellent organisational, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Proven ability of effective budget control and management;
  • Exceptional Customer Service


  • Experience in co-ordinating and/or managing outdoor events/projects;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current event industry’s legislative regulations and relevant HSE, Licensing, PRS and other related regulations;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of all event aspects inclusive of technical, front of house, aesthetics, marketing and publicity;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision;
  • Good presentation skills.
  • An understanding of the Build to Rent market
