Job Summary: To provide support to the Senior Property Accountant in ensuring the smooth running of all financial aspects relating to the management of Service Charges and Private Residential Lettings across multiple mixed use developments.

To take ownership of accounts receivable and payable duties as well as assisting with credit control and system administration.

The succesful applicant will provide a key role in supporting the growth of the Canary Wharf Estate and other developments elsewhere in London. In return, the candidate can expect career development into an accounting role and study support.

Canary Wharf Management Limited (‘CWML’) is the property management arm of Canary Wharf Group plc (‘CWG’). CWML currently manages the Canary Wharf Estate, comprising 17m sq. ft, as well as the multi-let office and retail properties on the estate.  CWG has an extensive development programme, with approximately 3.2m sq. ft. under construction at Canary Wharf and 1.4m sq. ft. at Southbank Place in Waterloo. These developments will have a significant residential component encompassing both homes for sale and homes for rent.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Upkeep of the property management system, ensuring the data is kept up to date and accurate at all times. This includes the processing of receipts, uploading supplier invoices for approval and adding and updating tenant and client data.
  2. Producing and issuing invoices.
  3. Liaise with suppliers and property management team to promptly answer any queries they may have.
  4. Debtor Control Review, Including the facilitation of Direct Debits.
  5. Monitoring supplier payments and reconciling with supplier statements where necessary.
  6. Ensuring best practice in line with RICS/ARMA and ICAEW service charge guidelines.
  7. Reconciliation & recharge of tenant direct recoveries.
  8. Providing assistance to the Senior Property Accountant as required.

Health Safety and Welfare Responsibilities

Environmental Responsibilities
All Staff are required to follow the Canary Wharf Group plc (CWG) Environmental Policies for minimisation of waste and effective energy management as defined in the CWG Environmental Manual and associated documents.

Quality Management Responsibilities
All staff are required to comply with CWG Quality Management System requirements detailed within the Company Quality Manual & Policies, and to ensure that all Procedure; Plans and Forms within InfoBase are effectively implemented to meet the set ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard.

Person Specification
  1. Service charge experience is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of the private residential sector would be a advantage.
  3. Experience using Propman or similar Property Management system preferred but not essential.
  4. Good Excel skills.
  5. Possess good communication skills.
  6. A forward thinker and planner.
  7. Be able to establish good working relationships across the organisation.
