Graduate Role in Sustainability

Job Summary: Responsible for contribution to Canary Wharf Group’s (CWG) commitment to making sustainability real, this role will be within CWG Sustainability Team and will support delivery of the Group’s overall sustainability strategy in all areas of the business, spanning design, development, construction and estate operations.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Communicate the required sustainability standards to CWG teams and assist with implementation including attendance at team meetings to provide updates on Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) factors.
  2. Coordinate information for company assessments and benchmarking such as BREEAM and GRESB.
  3. Attend relevant meetings with Consultants and Suppliers, to communicate CWG ESG Factors
  4. Perform desktop studies and research of emerging ESG trends
  5. Monitor and maintain CWG platforms such as ESG portal, SmartWaste and SharePoint.
  6. Assist with external audits, including but not limited to, ISO 14001 and FSC Project Certification.
  7. Assist with the continual improvement of the CWG environmental management system.
  8. Assist with external engagement such as UKGBC and BBP including developing best practice case studies.
  9. Assist with coordinating documentation to support the publication of the CWG annual sustainability report.
  10. Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Group Head of Sustainability.

Health Safety and Welfare Responsibilities

Environmental Responsibilities
All Staff are required to follow the Canary Wharf Group plc (CWG) Environmental Policies for minimisation of waste and effective energy management as defined in the CWG Environmental Manual and associated documents.

Quality Management Responsibilities
All staff are required to comply with CWG Quality Management System requirements detailed within the Company Quality Manual & Policies, and to ensure that all Procedure; Plans and Forms within InfoBase are effectively implemented to meet the set ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard.

Person Specification
  1. A recent graduate (within the last two years) with an interest in developing a career in Sustainability. Ideally, graduated with a degree in a related ESG / sustainability / environmental topic.
  2. It would be advantageous to have experience of working within a built environment related sector.
  3. An interest and willingness to learn about sustainability and environmental matters within the built environment.
  4. A commitment to continuous professional development.
  5. Good communication and presentation skills with a focus on delivering a strong customer service ethos.
  6. Ability to work autonomously and manage projects/tasks through their lifecycle to completion.
  7. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and working to deadlines.
  8. Logical and patient approach to problem solving.
  9. Prepared to work flexibly.
