Corporate Sustainability Report Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for production and delivery of CWG annual sustainability report, including management of CWG content owners and interviews, report copy writers, information gathering and all external assurance to achieve successful sign off and publication across a range of media platforms, digital and printed.

As the expert reference for corporate sustainability reporting and assurance the role requires specialist knowledge of global sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, GRESB CDP, FTSE for Good, B Corporation etc) as well as in depth knowledge of sustainability benchmarking, target setting and key performance indicator reporting in a real estate development, construction, and facility management environment. All set against compliance with the long term CWG sustainability strategy and in-depth understanding of existing internal and external stakeholder groups

A high level of knowledge and awareness of related sustainability topics is required to be maintained, through external benchmarking, networking and sustainability trends scanning, sharing that knowledge and guiding teams to maximise opportunities as they emerge through ongoing delivery of the sustainability strategy.

The role will be best suited to an experienced professional with strong project management skills and experience, but also with the ability and expertise to keep and maintain complex records and information assurance. Strong knowledge of implementation of sustainability programmes is also required.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Produce update and maintain the annual Canary Wharf Group Corporate (CWG) Sustainability Report, including case studies and news content to support delivery of the long term Sustainability Strategy for the Group.
  2. Update and maintain the Corporate Responsibility Group (CRG) Targets framework in line with the sustainability strategy, tracking and reporting in regular CRG meetings, with CRG member input as required.
  3. Manage report drafting process and organize CWG content owner interviews and input in line with CRG.
  4. Obtain external assurance statement from appropriate 3rd Party Certifying Body in line with relevant global reporting frameworks and standards (GRI GRESB CDP etc.) to support CWG Corporate Sustainability Report.
  5. Update and maintain CWG Sustainability Reporting Procedure and external Basis of Reporting statement.
  6. Update and maintain CWG Environmental Management System (CWG EMS) to support delivery of the Corporate Sustainability Report for the Group and maintain compliance with CWG Sustainability Reporting Procedure and Basis of Reporting protocol.
  7. Participate in engagement activity, communication and training as required to enable CWG staff, content owners, consultants and suppliers to understand, take responsibility and deliver the relevant requirements of the CWG Sustainability Strategy and Corporate Sustainability Report.
  8. Maintain and contribute to sustainability department record keeping and information assurance in support of overall CWG corporate sustainability reporting requirements i.e. data information, case studies, images etc.
  9. Represent the company and participate in internal and external working groups and forums with the overall objective of improving quality and delivery of CWG Corporate Sustainability Report and through this add value to CWG Sustainability Strategy.
  10. Participate in progress meetings other sustainability related meetings and provide sustainability and environmental content to reports as required.
  11. Manage CRG Diary and other related events and meetings.
  12. Assists junior staff and guides their development where required.

  1. Works closely with and reports to the CWG Head of Sustainability.

  3. Works closely with the CWG Corporate Responsibility Group and Report Content Owners
  4. Works closely with, appoints and manages report drafting consultants
  5. Works closely with, appoints and manages report assurance consultants
  6. Works closely with, appoints and manages report media platform consultants (web & printed)
  7. Engages with all CWG, CWC, CWM staff as appropriate to ensure effective understanding and implementation of related responsibilities to ensure successful publication of annual CWG Sustainability Report and associated processes

Quality Management Responsibilities
All staff are required to comply with the CWG ISO9001 certified Quality Management System and the requirements detailed within Company Quality Manual, Policies and Procedures.

Person Specification
  1. A technical qualification equivalent to BSc degree as a minimum.
  2. The role demands a very organised and credible persona with experience of both corporate sustainability reporting as well as implementation of sustainability improvement programmes.
  3. In depth experience of company-wide sustainability engagement and training programs is essential.
  4. First-hand experience with complex data management, record keeping, information retrieval, data integrity and assurance, as well as meticulous attention is absolutely essential.
  5. A working knowledge of Corporate Sustainability and Global Reporting frameworks (GRI) external assurance standards, ISO 14001 and in house EMS, is essential.
  6. The ability to develop and implement management systems and change related processes and procedures when required is essential.
  7. The role requires an individual who is self-motivated and tenacious. The ability to work well as part of an integrated Canary Wharf Project Team with Consultants, Trade Contractors and others associated with the Sustainability and Environmental Department is absolutely vital in this position.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, especially when dealing with Tenants Consultants, Statutory Authorities, Neighbours and other external Interested Parties.
  9. The ability to make commercially aware decisions is essential.
  10. A positive and helpful attitude and customer service orientation are essential.
  11. This role will demand critical attention to detail. The ability to motivate others to meet co-ordination deadlines in a diplomatic manner, while maintaining relationships will be essential.
  12. The role demands experience of managing deadlines and interfacing with external parties.
  13. Commitment to continuous improvement and continuing professional development is an important aspect of this position.
  14. IT literacy and good IT working skills (using Document Management Systems Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases) are essential.
