Purim Celebrations at Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf Group plc recently celebrated the Jewish festival of Purim at East Wintergarden. Over 400 guests attended to enjoy the entertainment and festivities.
The assembly was made up of a wide range of local community groups, including elderly residents – two of whom were 103 years old – with school children on hand helping out at the event. Some attended in vibrant colours and fancy dress, as is a tradition of the festival and the event also featured live music, a buffet lunch, mincha and performances. Employees working for the various companies across the Canary Wharf estate also turned out to join in the merriment.
In addition to the event, Canary Wharf Group plc arranged for gift packages of food to be delivered to community groups, distributed by schoolchildren at some centres and homes, upholding the festival’s tradition of charity and sharing at this commemorative time of year.
Canary Wharf Group plc also sponsored some of the transportation of elderly residents in particular Stepney Day Centre.
Danny Seliger from Canary Wharf Group plc said: “The festival was a truly joyous occasion and a resounding success. I have been inundated with letters of thanks, including those who work at Canary Wharf, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
