Get your skates on and get fit in 2015 at Ice Rink Canary Wharf …with London’s only skate path!
Burn off those Christmas calories and get fit for 2015 at Ice Rink Canary Wharf until 28 February 2015. Ice skating on the rink, which features London’s only skate path, a ‘running track on ice’ around Canada Square Park’s iconic ‘Big Blue’ sculpture, is a great way to get lean, help strengthen those-little used muscles and improve overall body balance.
For a New Year’s fitness blitz, Ice Skating lessons with professional instructors will help wannabe skaters get the most out of their session and skating like a pro. Ice Rink Canary Wharf is set amongst architecturally stunning surroundings in which to burn off those Christmas calories without even noticing. One of the largest and longest running outdoor rinks in the capital, the rink and skate path combined comprise almost 1100sqm of ice – plenty of space to get active and fit.
After a session on the ice, fitness fanatics can head to Reebok Sports Club, which offers an array of classes to complete an all-inclusive workout. A pilates session will aid flexibility and balance, perfect for improving skating technique. The programme includes something for everyone including activities like wing chun, cross boxing and groove cycle dance.
Tanya Camilleri, Group Exercise Manager at Reebok Sports Club says: “Ice skating is an enjoyable way of keeping fit. The exercise mainly involves lower body movement, however the core area needs to be strong to keep your balance. Incorporating pilates, yoga and strength training classes in your weekly workout can really help you become a pro at ice skating.”
For visitors feeling the need to refuel after a tough workout, there is an array of options across the Estate which visitors can explore, from detoxing smoothies at Crussh to fresh, protein filled sushi at ROKA. Pure and Le Pain Quotidien also offer a delicious range of healthy, organic treats and The Pearson Room has a special menu created for gym bunnies on the go, which offers meal deals and dishes designed by nutritionists and fitness professionals. Alternatively, situated right beside the ice rink is winter pop up Q on Ice, which has a wide selection of food and drink including a raw bar and fresh salads.
A truly spectacular venue and one of East London’s biggest winter attractions, Ice Rink Canary Wharf offers the perfect destination to work off the excesses of the festive season; so get your skates on and get fit in the new year.
