Crossrail Place Roof Garden calls for new performers after bloomin’ marvellous summer finale
Canary Wharf Group is calling for local groups and schools to showcase their dance, theatre and other performance activities in the Crossrail Place Roof Garden following the end of an exciting summer of performance with the ‘Late Bloom’ Community Festival.
The finale of the summer theatre programme invited local groups and individual artists to participate in a weekend of music, dance, poetry and performance. This summer’s festival gave local groups and individuals the opportunity to perform in the unique venue for friends and family whilst having the support and expertise of the Bloom Team.
Adam Hemming, Manager of the Space Theatre and curator of the Bloom programme on behalf of the Canary Wharf Group said: “Our aim has been to bring a wide variety of performers together, providing opportunities for artists to connect, as well as raise their profile”.
Acts which took part in the Late Bloom Festival included: WorkSpace, performing three new plays written in response to the Roof Garden; SpaceWorks Youth Theatre in collaboration with Embrace Dance; Pregnant Fish Theatre; Seraphim Dance; Laurie Allen and the Toynbees along with musicians Lucy Walker, Raimonda Pecktye, Linda Em and poet Barbara Stewart.
The focus of the Bloom summer programme has been to raise awareness of the theatre space within the Crossrail Place Roof Garden and encourage people to engage with the space in new and original way.
Sian Astrop, Arts + Events Manager for Canary Wharf Group said: “We have had some great performances in the Theatre space over the summer and we urge our neighbouring community groups and schools to get in touch with us and continue to use the space to showcase their talents.”
