Canary Wharf hosts ‘12 Days of Christmas Run’ for fun

The much loved Ice Rink Canary Wharf was the site of a rather unusual scene on 12 December as at 12.12pm maids-a-milking, lords-a-leaping and speckled hens embarked on a run in aid of children’s charities Kids’ City and Muddy Boots. The 1.2 mile fun run starting and finishing at Ice Rink Canary Wharf, required individual runners and teams to dress up as characters from The Twelve Days of Christmas or as their favourite Superhero.

Each participant raised their sponsorship target of £200 helping to bring festive fun to local children. This year’s fun run was in support of Kids’ City charity which provides out-of-school activities to local children aged 3 -11 years teaching them important lifeskills and giving some stability to children and families growing up in low income areas in London and Muddy Boots, Mudchute Nursery, After School Club and Holiday Playschemes that encourage outside play for nursery-age children in the surrounds of Mudchute Park and Farm. After the run, mince pies and mulled wine were enjoyed by all at Q on Ice, the rinkside bar and restaurant, and one runner, dressed as a partridge in a pear tree, was awarded a prize for the best fancy dress.
